  27. This file contains last-minute updates that are not found in the User's  
  28. Guide or in any addendum accompanying the display adapter.  Please read  
  29. this file before proceeding with the installation.

  35. Refer to the User's Guide for information on adapter installation.

  40. 3.0     Installation Notes for Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver  
  41.   
  42. The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is a Windows 95 mini driver.   
  43.                                        
  44. NOTE: Windows 95 will require a re-start to implement certain display  
  45.       settings  
  46.  
  47. Start Windows 95.  
  48.  
  49. For CD installation insert the ATI CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 
  50.  
  51. Note:  CD ROM drives that are configured for Auto Insert Notification 
  52.        will automatically load the ATI Installation application.  Proceed 
  53.        to Step 4 to complete the installation.

  55. 1) Click Start. 
  56.  
  57. 2) Select Run. 
  58.  
  59. 3) Type the following: 
  60.        D:\ATISETUP  (D being the letter of your CD-ROM drive.) 
  61.  
  62. 4) Click on Easy Install. 
  63.  
  64. 5) Select 'Custom Setup' and click Next. 
  65.  
  66. 6) Ensure that the 'Enhanced display driver' option is checked. 
  67.  
  68. ! If you do not wish to install the ATI Video Player at this time, you
  69.   must un-check the ATI VIDEO PLAYER checkbox.

  71. 7) Click the Finish button.

  73. 8) Follow the on screen instructions to complete the install.

  75. For Diskette installation insert the disk labeled Windows 95  
  76. into a floppy drive.

  78. 1) Click Start.

  80. 2) Select Run.

  82. 3) Type the following: 
  83.        A:\SETUP  (A: being the letter of your floppy drive.)

  85. 4) Select 'Custom Setup' and click Next.

  87. 5) Ensure that the 'Enhanced display driver' option is checked.

  89. 6) Click the Finish button.

  95. 4.0     Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver problems  
  96.    
  97. - The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is capable of using monitor  
  98.    timing data contained within Windows 95. This data is selected by   
  99.    configuring a monitor type at Windows 95 installation time or via the   
  100.    "Settings" page of the display properties sheet. If you change the   
  101.    selected monitor type via the "Settings" page of the display properties   
  102.    sheet the new timing data may not take effect until after restarting   
  103.    Windows 95. A solution to this problem is to always restart Windows 95   
  104.    after changing the monitor type.  
  105.   
  106.  - The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is capable of using monitor  
  107.    timing data contained within Windows 95. This data is selected by   
  108.    configuring a monitor type at Windows 95 installation time or via the   
  109.    "Settings" page of the display properties sheet. The Windows 95 mach64   
  110.    enhanced display driver may incorrectly interpret Windows 95 monitor   
  111.    timing data for some older monitors which require interlaced modes.   
  112.    This may cause some options to be disabled. A solution to this problem   
  113.    is to select one of the "(Standard monitor types)" available via the   
  114.    settings page of the display properties sheet.  
  115.   
  116.  - In Windows 95, display drivers can be installed via the "Add New  
  117.    Hardware" wizard ( although the procedure detailed in section 3.0 is  
  118.    recommended ). When the Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is  
  119.    installed via the "Add New Hardware" wizard the "Settings" page does  
  120.    not get installed into the mach64 display adapter property sheet.

  122.  - In Windows 95, Rapid Resuming with the Virtual Desktop on will cause 
  123.    loss of the Virtual Desktop.  This is because Windows 95 reinitializes 
  124.    the video mode on an APM resume.  No data loss occurs.  The desktop size 
  125.    is reduced to the screen size.  Windows 95 also reinitializes the video 
  126.    mode when windows is restarted on systems with Rapid Resume.  Again, no  
  127.    data loss occurs and the desktop size is reduced to the screen size.

  132. 5.0     Windows 95 property page problems  
  133.    
  134. - While adjusting monitor settings in the Adjustment page of the Display 
  135.   Properties sheet, your monitor could become unreadable. If this occurs, 
  136.   press the ESC key to return to your previous monitor settings.
